Topographic Information System

This book focused on the design, acquisition, creation and representation of Topographic Information System. The task involved spatial and non-spatial data acquisition, database design and creation. Digital surveying instrument (Sokkia Total Station Set 530R) was used to acquire spatial data, while non-spatial data were obtained through social survey by oral interview method and visual perception. Sokkia Link software was used to download the data from Total Station to the computer system, the geometric data were edited using Microsoft Excel and script file was created for AutoCAD using Notepad. The graphic representation was carried out using AutoCAD Land Development Desktop 2i, Surfer 8 was used in generating the contour and DTM and ArcView GIS 3.2a was used for spatial analysis, management and presentation.
