Veteran highlife musician Fatai Rolling Dollar dies at 85

An unconfirmed report reaching us says that Nigeria's oldest practicing musician, Pa Fatai Olayiwola Olagunju, popularly known as Fatai Rolling Dollar has passed on.

The report further stated that he died this morning in a hospital in Lagos Island after a protracted illness. 

Baba was 85 year old. May God in heaven grant his family the fortitude to bear this great loss. Rest in peace.

Durella set to move to DB Records

 

King of Zanga, Damilare Okulaja popularly known as Durella hasn't moved to D'banj's DB Records yet contrary to earlier reports, but he is planning to move. He explains why he wants to move to DB as follows:

"I am still signed to Iconic Music but there's a quest to move to DB Records. I want to pitch my tent in the international scene, that's why we gave DB Records some consideration. I think it's a platform for international advancement. I want Sony Records to take over the management of my music career. I also want international distribution for my works. D'banj is my friend, I am presently living in his house. We have not signed an official contract, but very soon, it will come to pass.

UPDATE: Brymo confirms his exit from Chocolate City

At this point, we should be asking who is fooling who. Firstly, there were rumours that Brymo had left Chocolate City, then the record label released a statement denying the rumour, and now Brymo has gone on Twitter to set the record straight.

Though the record company is insisting he still has a valid contract with them, but what we have below is a proof that Brymo has joined his former label mate Jesse Jagz

 

 

‘He still has three years and two albums to deliver, that’s what his contract says‘, a rep for the label said.

The question now is; what do we believe?

Wizkid becomes MTN Ambassador, Extends Pepsi deal

 

Wizkid is said to have joined the list of MTN Ambassador after a yet-to-be announced deal was signed yesterday (27th 0f May, 2013) with the telecoms giant. When you start seeing Wizzy's MTN ad campaigns, you sure know he has joined the likes of Davido, Iyanya, Praiz and others as an ambassador for the telecoms giant. He signed a one year endorsement deal with MTN.

And secondly, the Starboy just got his endorsement deal with Pepsi extended for another two year (see below)

I have from a reliable source that D'banj has finally signs Olamide under DB Records. The sensational rapper has recently been rumoured to make the move. I can categorically confirm to you that Badoo is now a confirmed member of Eja Nla family.

 

Olamide is the hottest “thing” in the music industry today and any track that has his voice on it usually becomes a show stopper. D’banj knows this and gave him a mouth watering deal…

The Kokomaster, according to my source, told Olamide that he could still become everything he wanted to become and even more by working under him. He reminded Olamide that he (D’banj) had to work under Kanye West just to get more international exposure and recognition but that he still remains an independent artiste and his own man. 

Olamide naturally likes D’banj and feels at home around him.We learnt that he has put pen to paper and is now officially an artiste under D’banj

Forbes’ 2013 Richest Names in Hip-Hop List Revealed

 

While the names of MTV’s “Hottest MCs in the Game Right Now” continue to argue over ranking, a new list has been unveiled with different names entirely.
Forbes has revealed it’s data for 2013’s wealthiest artists in hip-hop. Topping the money chart is Sean “Diddy” Combs who continues his baller-status reign.
The value summary takes into account non-music ventures, so it was Diddy’s entrepreneurial spirit playing brand ambassador for Diageo’s Cîroc vodka that helped earn him his net worth of $580 million.
Following Diddy were Jay-Z with $475 million and Dr. Dre at $350 million.
Here’s how the top five rounded out:

1. Sean “Diddy” Combs — estimated net worth: $580 million
2. Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter — $475 million
3. Andre “Dr. Dre” Young — $350 million
4. Bryan “Birdman” Williams — $150 million
5. Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson — $125 million

Fans of reading about music artists’ extreme bank accounts will recall that the list reads exactly same order as last year’s list Though, all of the net worths received a bump in the last 365 days.
Last year’s list read:

REVEALED: Toni Payne Actually Slept With Ruggedman?

Toni Payne, estranged wife of Nigerian artiste, 9ice, spoke to 'Nonye Ben-Nwankwo of the Punch about the many controversies surrounding her life and the good things too. She also said she can never beg 9ice to take her back, "Me? Never." But what's with she and Ruggedman? See a brief excerpt from what she said below:

Do you regret coming back home?

I don't. I was even saying so this morning. If Ididn't, the curiosity would have been too much; I would have missed out on a lot of things. I'm glad I came back home. My feet are so well grounded. I know what I want and I know what I am capable of doing. 

For somebody who is into PR, how come negative publicity has followed you in the short while you've been in Nigeria?

I will not let negative publicity control my life. It can't make me not to live the kind of life I want to live. That means the people behind it have won. Some other persons would have run back to the States, but I didn't and I will not. It is a little bit harder to manage yourself in terms of PR. I managed it well. I did as much as possible to reverse the notion about me. The terrain was even new to me. I kept wondering why people would want to say bad stuff about me. But now I have learnt, once I read or hear anything bad about me, I write my defence on Twitter.

What has kept you going?

I've been busy. A lot of people would have suffered from acute depression. I got angry at times but I was determined not to be broken. People ended up liking me. They found out I was the opposite of what was said about me. 

Do you have any issues with K Solo?

I don't have any issues with him. We are not friends. We've never sat down to have a 10-minute conversation. The issue with him came up because I follow him on Twitter and I saw the comment he made concerning his son. The mother in me couldn't take it. I was angry about why he could say such concerning an innocent child on social media.That was it. 

How are you coping as a single mother?

My son still has a father who is alive. It is not hard. He is well taken care of. I'm doing very well. It is not a big deal. Things happen, I will not be the first and I will not be the last. 

Have you ruled out marriage?

Everything is in God's hands. I will not rule out that aspect. 

What if 9ice comes back to you?

(laughs) No comment. I will not answer that. I cannot predict the future. 

What is this story that he snubbed you at an event?

I don't know where that story came from. How could he have snubbed me? We are not enemies. He didn't snub me at any event. I got to the event quite early. At that point, I was about leaving. And because there were too many eyes on me, I just had to stay a while. It was even later that he asked me if I was at the event. 

Do you still talk?

Oh yes we talk. We have a child together. We are friend. 

During the brouhaha, you were outspoken, why?

There will be a time in the future when my son will be able to browse the Internet and read up all the stuff that happened. I didn't want him to ask me why I didn't defend myself. That was what inspired my own decision. I didn't care whatever consequences that came out from my defending myself. I had to defend myself. 

Why did you marry 9ice?

So many people were of the view you were taken by his fame…

When I met him, he wasn't that popular. I methim before the stardom. He was somebody whose personality I liked. It didn't have anything to do with his being a celebrity. I saw a person I liked. I didn't look at his status. I would say he was the first guy I was ever really in love with. 

Was he your first boyfriend?

No. he wasn't. But he was the first guy I had genuine love for. 

Who was your first boyfriend?

It was one guy. We still talk. I'm not going to mention his name. He is still my friend. 

How did you feel when you heard that another lady now has kids for 9ice?

No comment. I am not going to say anything concerning that. I don't even know about it. I read about it in the papers. But then, I have read so many things about me that weren't true in the papers. However, true or not, I will not talk about it. 

It is more than two years since you separated. Are you now officially divorced?

I'll not say anything about that. I'm sure 9ice will not tell you either. 

We learnt you went back to beg him to take you back?

Me? Never. I did not. I know where the story came out from. Somebody close to him was feeding the press with the story. For some reasons known to him, he never liked me. He was the one that was always talking about me and coming up with such stories. 

I guess you mean his former manager, Deinde?

Yes. And since he left him, no story has been said about me. I didn't go to beg 9ice to take me back. Why would I do that?

Did you actually sleep with Ruggedman?
Of course I did not. I can categorically tell you I did not. Ruggedman has been my friend. But even before then, we didn’t see. And even after the whole incident, we have hardly seen. The last time I saw Rugged was during Occupy Nigeria. I have not seen him again since then.

Would you want Ruggedman and 9ice to be friends again?
They are adults so they should make their own decisions. But then again, I want peace between them. The fight was not warranted. There shouldn’t have been any fight in the first place. The song that caused the problem wasn’t about me. I was there when the song was recorded. I can still remember what I cooked that day. I cooked jollof rice and I diced the meat I used in cooking the rice. The lady referred to in the song was not me.

All the attributes didn’t have anything to do with me. I don’t have tattoos. The last time I checked, I wasn’t bisexual as the lady referred to in the song. It was just a song but people just chose to believe whatever would suit them.

Rihanna is one of the most controversial celebrity. She recently posted on her instagram that she never missed Chris Brown. That of course was due to the new found lovers (i didn't say that o!). D’Banj Is Back With Don Jazzy

Just like the biblical prodigal son, African Mega-star and Nigerian
born entertainer D'banj is back with the record label that made him,
MOHITS RECORDS, most especially he will once again team up with his
former partner Don Jazzy to make good music once again, GistNaija
exclusively gathered.
In a telephone conservation with our reporters yesterday, he revealed
his decision to make the surprise turn around. 'I have been thinking
and thinking about this for a while, and i guess i want to go back
home'
'I want to be clear on something, that I maintained a close
relationship with Wande, Don Jazzy, Sid and everybody in Mavin (former
Mohits), even when we were not together again. I'm not interested in
going into the debates of whatever Dbanj said, be it through an
interview, the press, social media or whatever. People should try and
understand that these things happen, and after i took my time
thinking, i have finally made up my mind. i'm coming back home' D'Banj
said.
Early this morning, Don Jazzy also had this tosay on his Blackberry
Messenger, 'Feels good to have you back bro'
D'Banj also tweeted 'Ooooose!! MOHITS/MAVIN it's Don Jazzy again' but
he later deleted it.
As expected, D'Banj's brother, K.Switch will follow his brother back
into Mohits(Mavin) crew.
It can be recalled that D'banj and his business partner/producer, Don
Jazzy, parted ways over an undisclosed issue last year, both were the
owners of the now defunct record label, Mo'hits Records.
While D'Banj decided to go international with his Good Music deal with
Kanye West, Don Jazzy launched his own recored label called Mavin
records, with stars such as Wande Coal, Tiwa Savage and D'Prince
signed onto the label.
The Big question however is, WILL DON JAZZY WELCOME D'BANJ WITH OPEN ARMS?
Especially when he was replaced with the beautiful Tiwa Savage and the
MOHITS CREW was rebranded and changed to MAVIN CREW.
If terms are reached and D'Banj is re-signed will the name be changed
from MARVIN back to MOHITS?
All these questions will be answered in a matter of time….
With Don Jazzy and D'Banj re-united, and other talented artistes such
as Tiwa Savage, Dr Sid, Wande Coal, D'Prince and K.Switch, The world
should expect nothing less than good quality music in the nearest
future.

BOWRY HOTEL tells MediaTakeOut.com that Jay Z has been staying there
for weeks.
The problem . . . his apartment with Beyonce is about a mile away. And
it's NOT like the hotel room is nicer than Jigga and Bey's crib. They
live in a GORGEOUS 10,000 square foot penthouse.
So why would he be staying AWAY from his home???

Starboy Wizkid Parties & Performs In Johannesburg With Hot Girls (PHOTOS)

The Starboy spent most of the weekend partying in two of
