Pa Benedict Odiase, Composer of Nigeria's National Anthem, passes on

 

Composer of  Nigeria's National Anthem, Pa Benedict Odiase has passed on. He died last night in his sleep. He composed Arise O Compatriots” in May 1978.

Papa retired in 1992 as a Deputy Commissioner of Police after being the Director of Music with the Nigeria Police Band.

Veteran highlife musician Fatai Rolling Dollar dies at 85

An unconfirmed report reaching us says that Nigeria's oldest practicing musician, Pa Fatai Olayiwola Olagunju, popularly known as Fatai Rolling Dollar has passed on.

The report further stated that he died this morning in a hospital in Lagos Island after a protracted illness. 

Baba was 85 year old. May God in heaven grant his family the fortitude to bear this great loss. Rest in peace.
