R-E-V-E-A-L-E-D: The grand plot to ease Keshi out of Eagles

The battle between Super Eagles Chief coach,Stephen Keshi and members of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF Board may just be beginning as the football house is set to query the coach on his return from the United States where he has gone to attend to some family issues.

Chairman of the NFF Media and Publicity Committee, Emeka Inyama had hinted that Keshi must answer some questions when he returns on why he was absent from the meeting with the federation's technical and development committee during the week. Inyama also alluded to the fact that the NFF was aware Keshi was in Lagos to take delivery of two cars given him by Globacom Chairman, Dr. Mike Adenugu but failed to show up for a crucial meeting he (Inyama) described as "serious business and a national business too."

However, a confidant of Keshi, who pleaded anonymity, told Saturday Vanguard Sports that the issue was beyond Keshi's absence at the Abuja meeting of the NFF technical committee, adding that there was a plot to frustrate the Delta-born coach and cause him to resign.

"The truth is that they want to finish the plot they started in South Africa and force Keshi to resign. Do you know that Keshi actually wrote for permission to travel from the NFF president, Aminu Maigari but he sat on it?", the source said. He also disclosed that part of the plot was to sack Keshi's close backroom staff and make his work difficult for him, adding, "they want him to fail in the World Cup qualifiers and Confederations Cup so that they can ease him out."

It would be recalled that there was a subterranean move by the NFF to employ a foreign coach for the Eagles after they struggled in the first two group matches at the Nations Cup in South Africa but when the plot was exposed, the NFF denied it.

NFF Board members have also been grumbling that Keshi was taking the whole glory for the Nations Cup victory and being rewarded by the Federal and States governments. The two cars gifted to him by Dr Adenuga did not go without mention by them too. The Board members were also getting set to mock Keshi when a few minutes to the end of the World Cup qualifier in Calabar, Kenya's Harambee Stars were still leading and could have stunned the Eagles 1-0.

Despite all these, Keshi has kept his cool, stressing that he has no problem with his employers but his confidant disclosed that the former coach of Togo and Mali national teams may open up when he returns if the NFF goes ahead to query him.
